We have been experimenting with some underwater equipment in the stunning waters of Bali and surrounding islands in prevision of shooting underwater scenes for our forthcoming documentary “THE SECRET SENSE OF THINGS“.

The richness of the underwater ecosystem in Bali is absolutely jaw-dropping. Still it is deteriorating fast, and we want to tell its story.

We used a basic camera setup (Sony A7sII) but experimented with Carl Zeis cinema lenses and have been quite impressed with the results, especially when doing macro shots with a shallow depth of field.

We filmed in the waters of Nusa Penida, the Gili Islands, Amed and Menjangan where we encountered some stunning specimens of corals and fish including manta rays, dolphins, turtles, sea snakes, moray eel and the very rare “Mola Mola”, a 3m long ocean sunfish.
